Attractions close to Milton Keynes

February 19th, 2014

With the weather looking awful the earlier part of last week, we suggested places to visit right in the very heart of the cosmopolitan town of Milton Keynes to keep you warm and dry, but with the sun beginning to shine, why not jump into the car and venture a little further afield.

If your passion is animals then a quick journey to Woburn Safari Park or Whipsnade Zoo will whet your appetite.  Of if you loved having a flutter at The Casino MK, then venture outdoors to Towcester Racecourse who have a fixture this Sunday.

Here are just a few attractions which are all within an approximate 20 mile radius from our Milton Keynes serviced apartments.

Woburn Safari Park

This drive through park allows you to get up close to many endangered species. Meet new arrivals Elton and Minerva, the beautiful pair of Amar tigers settling into their new home in the Kingdom of the Carnivores.   www.woburn.co.uk/safari

Woburn Abbey

Woburn Abbey has been the Russell’s family home since the early 17th Century and opened to the public in 1955.  There are 22 rooms which house some of the most significant art collections in the world.  In the Abbey you will discover 18th Century French and English furniture and silver and gold collections in the underground vaults. www.woburnabbey.co.uk/abbey

Towcester Racecourse

Study the form, place your bets and watch the races which start at 2pm. This place buzzes as the horses pass by. My top tip – get there in plenty of time to park. www.towcester-racecourse.co.uk

Whipsnade Zoo

Pop over to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo and say ‘hello’ to the leggy new arrival Willow, who at only 4 weeks old was standing six feet tall.  Willow can be seen from the new nine-foot-high viewing platform which brings you face-to-face to the giraffes for the very first time.

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo covers 600 acres, offers a Lookout Lodge, Photography Workshops and is home to many species of animals http://www.zsl.org/zsl-whipsnade-zoo/exhibits

On your way home why not Adopt an Animal which will keep treasured memories of the day fresh in your minds for a very long time?   www.zsl.org/whipsnade

Our City Stay Serviced Apartments offer you self-catering convenience and the luxury to prepare and cook your own meals.   There are no time-restrictions so breakfast is at your leisure.   With Sainsburys supermarket on site at Vizion you can also purchase everything you need for that special picnic.

We hope you have an enjoyable day out!
